    This Ranger Ii is wiring version II ( includes keyer/bias sub panel and PTT).

    Rebuild Complete
    * Overhaul/rebuild started
    * Unit disassembled to chassis
    * Microphone connector cut-out re-worked. Someone had enlarged the hole so we re-worked it back to stock size.
    * VFO Module overhaul in process, photo shows VFO module in holding fixture.
    * VFO Module overhaul complete, module tested.
    * Front Panel Repaint ( and eventually re-decal) is underway.
    * All tube sockets installed.
    * Power transformer and HV filter choke installed.
    * 8 new 6-32 nutplates installed on rear chassis face.
    * Front panel : two coats of primer, two coats of Johnson Light Grey on upper 2/3 of panel. Lower 1/2 gets two coats of Johnson Dark Grey.
    * Under-chassis wiring re-work in process. This is slow going as the entire under-chassis wiring is repaired. We start at one end, usually the RF section and move from there.
    * RF under-chassis wiring approximately 80% complete
    * Wiring installed for keyer/bias sub-panel
    * Wiring installed for PTT circuit
    * Buffer and PA tuning shafts and shaft couplers installed
    * Power transformer input wiring and line filters installed.
    * PTT Module temporarily fitted in place.
    * 5/2: Second stage panel re-paint successfully completed.( see photo). We will allow two weeks for the paint (enamel) to cure before we start the decal process.
    Note: Enamel cures rather slowly and becomes harder as it cures.
    * Installed coarse loading switch, loading variable capacitor
    * Under-chassis wiring approximately 97% complete
    * 5/9: Under-chassis RF & Modulation wiring completed
    * Metering tested: Osc,Buff,Grid.
    * Top chassis shield installed
    * PTT & Keying wiring installed
    * Under-chassis shields (2) installed
    * PA HV circuit installed
    * VFO module installed & tested
    * Crystal Oscillator tested
    * PA Plate components installed
    * PA Coarse loading capacitors installed
    * Power and modulation waveform tests
    * Front Panel Decal process started.
    * Panel Decal process, step 1 completed.
    * Panel Decal process, step 2 completed
    * Sub panel re-paint complete
    * Sub panel decal step 1 & 2 complete
    * Panel repaint and decal complete, clear overcoat complete
    * Knobs cleaned and clear coated
    * Panel and sub panel installation started.

    NOTE: Cabinet needs repaint, currently cabinet is Johnson Maroon. New cabinet rubber feet installed.

    ***** This unit is equipped with PTT ( Push to talk), therefore tune up and transmit will not work unless the PTT  circuit is energized. A "test" switch is provided on the PTT module to energize the PTT circuit when the unit is out of the case and a microphone with PTT switch may be connected to the MIC connector. ****<~~~~~~

    * This unit is shipped with several pieces removed and packaged separately in the shipping carton:

    1) HV Rectifier Tube

    * If you have never operated a vacuum tube transmitter from the 60's and 70's, we highly recommend acquiring a copy of the Ranger Owners manual for study and reference.
