Filter By-Pass Accessory
Band pass filters are a common, and popular accessory used by hams. Some hams have multiple filters which they swap out, depending on the band they want to operate on?
Multiple band-pass filter arrangements are offered from a few manufactures, but can be expensive, to the point of pricing the mono-band filter user out of the market.
WARNING
: Band Pass Filters are designed to be connected, between a radio and antenna or the radio and amplifier. If
the filter is installed on output of an amplifier, the filter will be destroyed almost instantly.
DO NOT
use a transceiver Auto Tuner into any bandpass filter, a risk of high current and/or
high-voltage will damage the filter.
There are a couple of frustrating problems with mono-band filters:
1.
The principal one, is the requirement to take it out of line, if a different band/frequency is to be used.
2.
The second, and maybe the most significant, is changing bands, and forgetting that the filter is still in line. Depending on the radio, this situation has the potential to cause serious problems, maybe even damage to the filter or radio or both?
There is no other reasonably priced product, that would permit a Mono-Band filter to be switched out of line when not in use? Nothing exists at any price that solves this problem! If anyone is aware of such a device/product – short of purchasing an expensive multi-band filter product, please contact this seller!
